PIA said three of the seven ATR 42-500 were operational while the rest of the aircraft were grounded due to lack of spheres, structural issues, and runway excursion. Similarly, he said three aircraft of five ATR-72-500 were operational while two were grounded due to collision incident and prolonged grounding.

BTW, PIA ATR 72-500 registration AP-BKY went offline recently, I hope it didn't spare some parts to make sistership AP-BKZ active again.

PIA Airbus A320 registration AP-BLU returned to the skies when it performed a test flight from & to Karachi Airport today.

The A320 departed from Karachi at 4:53 PM and landed in Karachi 5:48 PM. Test flight duration fifty-five minutes.

Apparently, AP-BLU was inactive since May 27, 2019.

PIA Airbus A320 registration AP-BLU began performing revenue flights for the airline when it departed from Karachi at 4:19 PM as flight PK308 to Islamabad today.

AP-BLU is back but AP-BLT is now on ground. So overall numbers are kind of same.

Two crashed landed.

One crashed with all dead.

One parted out to keep others flying.

What 7 ATR42s???? They are not grounded, 3 out of 4 have CRASHED.

Yes PIA bought 7 ATR42s but 13 years later only 3 are left.

I think the Gilgit one is a write off also officially taking the total down to 3.

Plus the one ATR72 that hit the Shaheen 737, that should not be counted as inactive, it is gone.

Correct: Gilgit ATR is also write off, though they are not admitting it yet.

So now they have 3 ATR-42 and 4 ATR -72. Making it total 7 ATR's. They have 12 A320's and 12 B-777's. Making total 24 Jets.

So current fleet is of 31 Aircraft that could potentially fly.

And assuming that at any given time one Aircraft of each type is under maintenance which is pretty normal, PIA have real operational fleet of 28 Aircraft at any given time.

They should work on getting AP-BMY asap.
