A muted silence over Wasi Zafar's episode

ISLAMABAD: After initial resolve to uphold the rule of law everybody in the government as well as in the ruling Pakistan Muslim League has shown muted silence over Law Minister Wasi Zafar's episode.
A spokesperson of the prime minister's office was reluctant to get the premier's response on the matter. The spokesperson repeatedly said that the Karachi airport incident has nothing to do with the prime minister.
The PML information secretary and state minister for overseas Pakistani, who had told this correspondent on 12th August that the matter would be brought before the prime minister and the PML chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and that the rule of law would be upheld after ascertaining the facts of the incident, Monday told this correspondent that he was misunderstood by The News.
Azeem said that he had actually said that the matter after being reported by the media would have attracted the attention of the prime minister. He said he was not in a position to suggest as to what the prime minister or the party would do on the matter.
PML secretary general Mushahid Hussain was also not available for comment. The defence ministry was no different. On 13th August, the ministry said that it would seek report on the matter from concerned authorities at Karachi airport. The defence ministry was contacted several times on Monday but the concerned official, who had willingly talked to this correspondent on Saturday, was simply unapproachable.
