Lahore Airport Main Runway to be Reconstructed and Secondary Runway to be Upgraded

Reconstructed Main Runway 18L/36R of Lahore Airport expected to become available for flight operations after Eid al-Adha. A ceremony is being planned for the re-opening of runway.

* Runway 18L/36R civil works completed in April 2022.
* Runway 18L/36R electrification works completed in June 2022.

On July 29, aircraft began using Lahore Airport reconstructed Main Runway 18L/36R for landing/takeoff.

Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).



The reconstructed and upgraded runway meets now meets ICAO CAT 4F requirements making it capable of handling Airbus A380 flights.

Ceremony arranged at Lahore Airport on July 30 to celebrate completion of Lahore Airport main Runway 18L/36R. Aviation Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique attended the ceremony.

I think airlines want to operate, but due to "protectionism", A380 flights arent being given ok (as per recent rumors in media).

That is also true sir. That's why the other bottlenecks must be removed which are far easier and cheaper. Once an airport in Pakistan is able to handle 777s breezily, then one might say that upgrading airports for A380 is a logical next step. Not the other way round.
