I know many say Emirates fleet is highly utilized. But lets not forget how PIA fleet is underutilized. But remember that emirates will also sell them at a price remembering how much they've flown.

Perhaps buying a330s for "peanuts" may help Pakistan. There has to be some economics behind it, such as it being profitable for flying once a day for 5 hours for 4 years before being scraped.

Those b777 can also be bought and then used for parts.

The good thing is that Pakistan's National Aviation Policy introduced in year 2015 does not allow induction of more than 12-year old aircraft.

So, now there's no place in Pakistani airlines for old aircraft dumped/retired by other airlines.

That's not a good thing.

As an example, Airbus A330s, both -200 and -300 series have been available with 230t take off weights since yr 1998/99. Such an aircraft could easily cover all Europe and Asia at max payload or even better cover the regional middle-east routes leaving the 777 for EU and US/Can.

Why pay a premium for a younger aircraft when you could lease or buy an older example, put it through a C or D check and still have money to spare? Delta and British Airways are looking at acquiring older second hand widebody aircraft.

Not sure what Arabian Aerospace wrote but I don't think EK ever operated A-330-300

The A330-200s would make an excellent freighter.

UPS and FEDEX have in the past bought 12-15 year old aircraft and converted them into cargo aircraft, specially the old A310-200 and A310-300 fleet. UPS even has a large A300-600F fleet.

Buying ex Emirates A330-200s and converting them to cargo will be the way forward for this fleet.

As for their 777-200ER fleet, I am sure it is powered by Trent engines and might be no good for PIA.
