Re: PIA to Buy New Business Class Seats for Boeing 777 Fleet
PIA's current Business class is an improved version of Premium economy on other airlines. It's fine for flights up to 7-8 hours, but anything more and the flight becomes a tad bit annoying. For my parents USA trip, they're choosing QR since the flight is almost 15 hrs. If these new seats are implemented, and like uzairali said, the other features are improved, then the Business sector of PIA could be revived. After all, the main purpose of flying Business class is to sleep easily, enjoy the lounge, have better food and be given priority at the airport and in the plane.

Singapore-based JAMCO Aero Design & Engineering (JADE) - jamco-jade.com - declared as successful bidder.Abbas Ali wrote:Tender notice In today's (February 18) newspaper:

PIA should change their economy layout to 10 abreast instead of 9. Almost every airline has switched to this. This would rather be a good time where the whole planes get all seats replaced rather than just business and premium econ and continuing with 9 abreast for years to come.
Adding an extra seat a row can mean some 50 additional seats! Keep premium economy to 9 abreast.
Imagine a full aircraft on ISB-YYZ route and one way is say $700, that's $35,000 in extra profit a flight (ignoring fuel etc costs)

^ They were not rejected.
According to evaluation report, following bidders qualified:
JAMCO Aero Design & Engineering (JADE).
AAR Engineering Services.
Etihad Airways Engineering.
Lufthansa Technik AG.
KLM.
&
HAECO.
And, from these qualified bidders, JAMCO Aero Design & Engineering (JADE) got selected because apparently it offered to perform same task at lowest price and that's the purpose & objective of bidding process.

Hasn't PIA already purchased business class seats for its fleet of 777's. Would this be for economy class seats?
