On May 6, while responding to a question during a press conference held in Lahore, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi informed that work on Lahore Airport expansion will start within next few weeks.

According to corrigendum Number 1 in May 25 newspaper:
Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) intends to hire services of a reputed Consultancy Firm in Joint Venture (JV) with an international firm possessing engineering consultancy experience and expertise in buildings, airports and aviation projects for consultancy services of the Third-Party Monitoring (TPM) consultant for quality assurance and quality control for expansion of terminal building and allied facilities at Allama Iqbal International Airport (AIIAP) - Lahore.

Stand numbers 9, 10 and 11 unavailable for aircraft parking due to construction work for expansion of Lahore Airport passenger terminal building towards southern side. Caution of heavy machinery deployed at concerned site.
All other parking stands for aircraft and related facilities to remain available at the airport.

what are they trying to do here exactly?
The planned expansion area looks very small. What will they be doing? just adding 1-2 more gates with aerobridges?

Just a curious question, couldn't they have used the hajj terminal for domestic operations instead of expanding the airport and causing all this inconvenience ?

Stand numbers 10 & 11 can be utilized by Airport Manager (if deemed appropriate from operations/safety aspects) for any emergency and while considering ongoing construction activities of project at site. Caution of heavy construction machinery deployed at concerned site, whereas all other stands and related facilities shall remain available.

I think many people here on this forum are not so sure about the scope of this expansion?
How many gates will be added? if stand 8 is also not available what are they trying to achieve ? what is the design of expansion? What additional capacity is being added? No renders ?
