Airblue takes delivery of A321NX from GECAS’ order book; First A320neo family aircraft to enter service in Pakistan

Dubai, 15 October 2021
– Airblue Limited’s (airblue) latest fleet addition, A321-200NX MSN 10162 has departed Hamburg destined for Karachi. The aircraft from GECAS’ skyline is the first A320neo family aircraft to enter service with a Pakistani airline.

“GECAS is delighted to support airblue’s fleet expansion with this CFM LEAP-powered neo as they grow their operations throughout the region,” shares Mick O’Mahony, GECAS’ SVP & Region Manager.

Taking delivery of the first Airbus A320neo family of aircraft to operate in Pakistan adds to airblue’s history of firsts in Pakistani aviation, including initiating e-ticketing and self-check-in kiosk facilities in the country.

“Airblue is privileged to bring this new-technology 237-seat A321NX narrowbody into service. It is a great complement to our all Airbus A320 family fleet with 95% airframe commonality and enhanced fuel-efficiency”, explains airblue Deputy Managing Director Operations Ms. Sadia Mohammad. “Additionally, we look forward to the delivery of our second Airbus A321NX from GECAS later this year.”

Congratulations Air Blue on induction of the brand new aircrafts, a rare happening now a days in aviation industry of Pakistan. :applause:

I have been a regular with Air Blue since 2006 and find them much progressive, organized and a better service airline among all Pakistani carriers.

Hope to fly on the new birds on my next visit to Islamabad around early December

Would be nice to see AirBlue in Amsterdam/Frankfurt/Istanbul but we need to wait until EASA ban is lifted!

Bravo to Airblue. Interested to see if someone share cabin interior pictures. Do they have any inflight entertainment system onboard?

Sorry to everyone, no harsh feelings but I don't think using this aircraft for Umrah flights will be wise-decision. There can be so many mid-long range routes which can be ideal utilization for neos towards China, Indonesia or Europe .. Keep these birds for leisure & business travellers.

Am not an expert but can someone confirm if they can be used towards JFK or similar distances?

Why not? Keep in mind this is the lowest-casm narrowbody airliner ever. The fuel savings might be maximised by putting it on the longest possible flights, but are still there on shorter flights too. Range-wise it should easily be able to reach mainland europe; britain is about the edge of its range from pakistan.
