Regarding AP-BMS how is the premium economy sold as as PIA does not offer a premium economy product on its other 777s?

PIA sells both the Business and PE seats in AP-BMS as Executive Economy. It’s a scam, since you pay thinking you’ll get a flatbed and can instead end up with a regular premium economy seat. Some videos on YouTube showing passengers fighting on this exact issue as well.

finally ap-bms has started flying in the skies, but ap-bgk seems to have gone for maintenance and let's hope it won't be grounded for years as it happened in the past with many pia aircrafts.

On January 6, PIA Boeing 777-300ER aircraft registration AP-BMS returned to service when it left Karachi at 11:02 PM as flight PK370 to Islamabad.

AP-BMS had become inactive in the first week of September 2024.

Idk how to upload pics or videos on this platform, but if you google AP-BMS interior it will show pics of all three cabins.

This is the video I was referring to; unfortunately I’ve seen the same scam of PIA selling PE seats as Business in person as well

American Airlines has a large fleet of A330-243 parked since 2020.

Eight were built in 2013-14.

They have a 3 class layout with 20 in club, 21 in Premium economy and 206 in economy.

Might be the ideal aircraft to re-start Europe UK, and Far East and the A330-200 even has the range for Toronto and New York.

Why not make a deal with American and give them the Roosevelt Hotel for these planes, plus take the balance in cash.

Convert the 777s to all economy and keep them for Saudi routes, and return BMS to the leasing company.

With the positive response seen on these flights and UK flight ops opening soon, and the amount of Pakistanis traveling abroad nowadays.

Its peak time PIA gets all 10 workhorses ready for flight ops. Even with old cabins flights get sold out imagine how much revenue could be generated with 3-4-3 economy cabins like ME3 and Updated Business Class seats

The best low budget Business Class seats for PIA are the ones on Finn Air A350s No recline business class no mechanical parts hence low maintenance and installation cost less chance of damages.
Wouldn't be a bad option on the younger 777s

first of there are no younger 777s. The newest one was built in 2008 that makes it 17 years old.

Second I think PIA needs to get out of the twice weekly flight routine for Europe. For that you need a slightly smaller aircraft then the 330 seat 777.

A few used A330s would be ideal as the 787 used market is strong and probably not available. Even the used A330s are not that easily available.

Paris or Milan might be the only 2 stations where PIA can get decent load factor on it's 777s throughout the year. Stations like Copenhagen, Oslo, Amsterdam, Athens etc... are relatively smaller markets and PIA might have to combine two stations as it did before the ban to fill up it's 777 so it makes sense to operate a smaller aircraft.

Several airlines from ME operate their a320s to EU, if PIA can refurbish 2-3 of it's a320s with comfortable seats and a good seat pitch, the a320 can cover a handful of destinations from Islamabad at least, ending the need to combine 2 stations. It might not be ideal but a temporary arrangement untill they induct new mid range aircrafts.

I have travelled on Saudia's a320s several times on medium and short haul routes and found the seat pitch really comfortable, which is the main concern for comfort on such routes. Saudia operates a320s to Munich, Frankfurt, Rome etc....

Maybe a configuration like 132Y/8J can workout. The 320 should be able to fly from Islamabad to Copenhagen, Oslo and Rome at least.

Just my personal opinion because I have taken some medium haul flights on the a320.

17 years old still means 5 years of life left at least normal retirement age of 777 fleet is 25 years

And with amount of time PIA has grounded its 777s the airframes have lower flight cycles compared to similar age 777s.

No widebody induction can be foreseen in the next couple of years so its better to refurbish whta you still have.
