I dont understand the obsession with foreign pilots. Also if you "cant get a grip on why we drag ATC into this," then maybe you should read up on the basics of ATC procedures and you will then get "A grip."faisal-777 wrote: Thu Feb 06, 2025 8:44 amAnd Saudi pilots probably displayed more caution and did the right thing. Lets assume PIA pilots had the same issue as SV pilots had, difference in handling is clear.TomcatTask wrote: Wed Feb 05, 2025 10:58 am Recently there have been incidents involving 2 Saudia aircraft that seem to be actually quite similar, although i'm not sure if the weather was the same. In both instances while on approach the aircraft veered off track and were alerted to it by ATC. Both reported GPS signal loss.
This also makes me somewhat then understanding of why private airlines have opted to hire much expensive foreign pilots.
Cant get a grip on why we drag ATC into this. Both cockpit crew and ATC should be held accountable.

The ATC can at worst get a slap on the wrist for not reminding, the final decision rests with two people in the cockpit. Maybe someone who is an ATC can add more to it, but at a night time, i can well imagine ATC own ability to see what pilots are doing might be hindered.AP-BGY wrote: Fri Feb 07, 2025 5:15 amI dont understand the obsession with foreign pilots. The ATC capabilities have nothing to do with the time of the day. They see and evaluate aircraft positions based off RNP (required navigation performance). They don’t use telescopes to see an aircraft. Their responsibility is of equal importance. So yeah ….
