Saadu wrote:@Raihan, Lagta hai aap ko kaffi experience hai spotting ka. When were you there last? I can imagine them fencing the landing lights werna charsi bulb nikaal kay lay jaein. Also what is the frequency of flights to LHE. Its not AMS or LAX where you are getting a plane every 5 minutes or every 2 minutes. Whats the best time to be there you think? How is the other side of the runway from 18L? On the satellite photo it looks like there is a small curb on the side of the road to park cars
Well Saadu, my last visit was in Jan 2006 on my vacation but that time i just visit the site once. Previously, when i was residing in Lahore, I got visit to rwy for number of times. To check the frequency of flight to lahore, i suggest you to visit following links so you will have the idea of flights arrival and departure:

Intl. Departures http://www.lahoreairport.com.pk/FSDepar ... tedNew.asp
Dom. Departures http://www.lahoreairport.com.pk/FSDepar ... tedNew.asp
Intl. Arrivals http://www.lahoreairport.com.pk/FSArriv ... tedNew.asp
Dom. Arrivals http://www.lahoreairport.com.pk/FSArriv ... tedNew.asp

Normally, i got visits there in the afternoon and some times when i am  then no time to go there either morning or evening  About 90% of the traffic (arrivals) can be witnessed from 36R due to wind direction in favor.

You can see below the track in lime green colour through which I used to go there. Red point shows the area to spot the planes and ASF check post is there as well. But this point is not good for photography :!:

you know wat you people need to take pics infront of the ASF and not get caught?? well, if I were you, then take a green number plate car (government car) and the ASF won't even come near you. Next summer If anyone of you want to come with me in my dad's car (PAF number plate car  ) we can go there with no problem and take alot of photos. One ASF stopped my dad from entering ISB airport and he got suspended because my dad had an official airport card  . I felt sorry for the gaurd.

Just to recap, those who sent me their number, i'll call you and we can make a proper appointment of day/time/place to meet. This is probably my last post for a while. I fly on 30th, and reach lahore on the 31st. Taking KLM (MD11s) to Dubai and then Etihad to Lahore.
Changing location to LHE. Over and out.

Wow! what a way to (mis)use official PAF car

I think there is nothing to proud of in this. The ASF guard was doing his duty
I felt sorry for the gaurd

TAILWIND, I agree with what you have pointed out but believe me thats the only way you can escape with the problems ASF can put you in by using an official govt. number plate car or other option is that there should be highly ranked military personnel with you :!: if you are trying to photograph planes landing or take-off.

well, my dad had nothing to do with the gaurd's suspension, he got the flight delayed for no reason. he told my dad that he can't enter the lounge and had to go throught the back where the Cargo area is and enter the apron from there. My dad had no prob with just standing and waiting. the people who suspended the gaurd was the ISB airport manager because the gaurd was not new and he was just showing-off infront of all the people "acting" like he had power. My dad, stood there all calm and tried to reason with the guy but he wouldn't listen. The airport manager was just passing by and he saw the situation and thats how my dad could finnally get in. The news of the Suspension came AFTER 1 week and it had nothing to to with my dad!! and as for the PAF plate... there is no way you can get anywhere in Pakistan without one because the Pakistani police would do anything for a few bucks for no reason. so it comes handy (for the kids when we go somewhere) but my dad just uses it for official uses in ISB!

I dun know y u people are offended with this......... but every single PAF car uses their car and rank for the same reason. Its no different that my dad is an ex-PAF pilot but still gets the priviledges....

I'm sorry if it offended people because i didnt explain properly.

Sorry sir if it offended you but I had no intent to do that. The PAF car is not official. The car is given to my dad from the office to use for his privite life. the PAF is on it because my dad was in PAF before but now he's in OGDC. I don't think my dad has the plate anymore but now he uses the OGDC plate which works almost the same way but less priviledges.

Also, My dad did not get the gaurd suspended. that day he also blocked PIA pilots in the morning and thats y the airport manager had to personally come to see the matter. My dad had no intent to make the guy loose his job, my dad's not that cold hearted.
