It merits a mention that noise is being raised about the death of engineer Imtiaz just to divert the attention of investigators towards other directions by saving engineering side. Sources said that two types of engineers perform work in plane departure, one is responsible for plane maintenance on board and he travels with the plane and the other is ground engineer who is responsible of final clearance for take-off. The traced parts would be examined in laboratory of aircraft company to establish final opinion about the parts.
There is only ONE type of engineer who is responsible for the AIRWORTHINESS of the aircraft, from cockpit to tail and wingtip to wingtip.
Imtiaz was an excellent engineer on Fokkers, especially engines.

The comment that there was no engineer present at Multan is ridiculous, as Imtiaz was accompanying the flight. Who would go onboard knowingly that it is going to crash??????

It is a PIA NORM, sending Aircraft Engineers with the flights where PIA has not posted its engineers. They go with the aircraft and come back with it to their bases after doing the airworthiness checks before every flight.

So please wait for the investigators to find the real cause and do not speculate on pilot (error) or engineer (tech fault).

Crashed Fokker’s debris removed

MULTAN:
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and other rescue teams have removed the wreckage of the crashed Fokker from the site and sent the destroyed engine and other parts to Karachi for mechanical laboratory test, said sources on Friday.

A big crane removed the parts after the investigators conducted a survey from the air and made a video film of the site. The sources said the ill-fated flight was just 22-25 feet high when a mango tree hit the plane’s bottom and the possibilities of technical faults were compelling the investigators to hold the engineers responsible for the tragedy. The investigators were convinced that plane was 500-700 feet high when it started moving towards the earth and turned into a ball of flames after entangling with high voltage electric wires.

The sources said four members of the joint investigation team led by Air Commodore Junaid and Multan Airport Manager Syed Amir Mehboob Shah made their first trip on Thursday to have an aerial view of the site and the second on Friday with Group Captain Mujahid.

The sources said the investigation team was scheduled to wind up their activities on Friday, but their stay had been extended for one more day and now they would leave Multan on Saturday (today). An expert from a Fokker company, Dutch Space, also arrived in Karachi on Friday to initiate further investigations that will be conducted there in collaboration with Pakistani investigators, the sources added.

On July 10, a PIA’s passenger Fokker crashed into a field shortly after take-off on Monday, killing all 45 passengers and crew, near Suraj Miani on the outskirts of Multan about four-five kilometres away from the airport.
