I believe the e-gates will be for arriving passengers only, at least in the first instance. That should be straightforward in most cases.rayyanullah wrote: Thu Apr 18, 2024 7:29 am Valid visa is also checked by the FIA so how is this going to be done through the e-gates?
Theoretically everything is hunky dory on paper but without help in how to use e-gates together with half of the immigration stalls not manned along with everyone in the wrong queue there is bound to be long delays to get through immigration.
For departure, it is another story. It involves bureaucracy, inefficiencies, incompetence, and also fraud. There have been many Pakistanis who were traveling on fake visas - both sticker and e-visa. In the UAE, for instance, immigration is only involved in registering your entry into and out of the UAE. Checking the visa of your destination is the responsibility of the airlines. I observed similar procedures in France, the UK, and the US.
In Pakistan, the FIA checks for visas due to many fraudulent documents being used for illegal migration. People think if they can use a fake visa to get out of Pakistan, they will apply for asylum in the destination country when their visa doesn't check out.
