Wow...Has Islamabad airport sufficient runway length for this aircraft to land? I guess it will require larger runway....
Off the topic, Today (13-OCT-2005) at 1530 hrs I saw Saudi Arabian MD-11(cargo plane) landing at Islamabad Airport bringing some tents and other materials for earth quake victims.

In flight number ADB7718, ADB stands for 'Antonov Design Bureau'.
Here's a recent photo of Antonov An-225 Mriya taken at Houston Intercontinental Airport, USA, on October 11, 2005.

Maybe the weight of that thing loaded with cargo is too much for ISB airport runway to handle.
I remember a time when after a brief rain spell my flight to KHI (PK309) which was a 742 (BCM) could not takeoff for a good half hour as the runway was not able to withstand the weight of such an a/c when wet, as was told to us by the captain, and we left after about 45 mins.

Aroosh,
The An-225 is currently airborne between Houston and Ontario (info source: Alexandre Avrane - AeroTransport Data Bank). According to latest reports it will land in Karachi because enough parking space was not available for it at Islamabad Airport which is already hosting large number of relief aircrafts and copters. The aircraft will arrive at Karachi from Minsk. We need to find its departure time from Minsk and arrival time at Karachi. I'll post further info on forum as soon as I get it.
