If BGL is not returning might be a good idea to move its tired club class sets to BMG. Those are still better then the recliners on this plane.

AP-BMG had a test flight then nothing.

Were there a lot of issues with the plane that it remains grounded since the test flight?

I guess PIA network has shrunk a lot.

with the IMF policy of no subsidies I wonder how PIA will survive on its small fleet, limited network and pay 3 billion per month in interest payments.

PIA situation will immediately becomes better once they start flying to UK. approx. 35% of revenue came from UK.

Between this situation is the slap on policy makers who continue let loose Karachi market in last 15 to 20 years to other carriers with reason that PIA passengers mostly came form northern Pakistan to UK region.

Now there is complete ban on PIA to operate flights to UK. Where these policy makers are hiding now?

PIA can't come out of mess until PIA able to retain/ operate decent flights to/from Karachi to international cities. LHE/ISB/KHI as origin station could help PIA for economic prosperity, if any of the station mention above is performing weak, PIA situation will be weak.

Toronto and Jeddah are the only exceptions.

Have noticed that PKs domestic schedules are completely bare bones aside from the major trunk routes. MUX, LYP, SKT should be connected daily to the hubs ISB, KHI, with some services to UET and PEW too. Domestic regular domestic connectivity is crucial for local growth. PK should work with CAA to reduce taxes on these routes too.

The AT45/72 can be brought back online for this.

Improved road networks have reduced the number of people flying.

you can get to Multan in 4 hours from Lahore, to Peshawar in 5 hours. Plus the quality of the highways makes the driving hassle free.

Plus better bus service compared to 30 years ago when a large fleet of fokkers flew on these routes.

Lot of domestic flights were subsidized. Now that is over.

Agree ^ especially in punjab.

I was more thinking about Multan/Bahawalpur/Sialkot/Faisalabad are all 11+ hours by road from Karachi and at least Multan is a fair drive from Islamabad. That kind of drive time isn’t really an alternative to flying. In India these types of routes are subsidised. If PCAA and PK don’t realise their importance in terms of connecting these cities daily to Pakistan’s industrial and economic hub + Islamabad then they aren’t doing the job.

Quetta is another one that could be better connected with secondary cities. Road network not at the same level as other parts of the country.
