Cost of painting an A320 is too high for PIA to spend money on right now. Maybe when they break even on the losses and taxes then they may get it re-painted.

One can only wonder what MEA and Skyteam think about PIA flying around their brand name and colours. How long before they step up trademark protection efforts?

It probably won’t be, whoever is making these decisions to not paint the aircraft and use previous operator’s livery is not the most intellectually sound person to say the least (probably the CTO or COO). To save a few Thousand dollars they’re willing to face litigation of millions if these planes are caught in some event where the current liveries are seen ( we all know how popular PIA is on social media). Looks like someone wants to please their superiors by saving money.

In the recent past, ATR 72-500 and a number of Airbus A320s as dry leased aircraft were delivered to PIA in airline's livery painted outside Pakistan.
