The aircraft were acquired on dry lease for up to eight years under a bids invitation issued in year 2014.

So seems like the lease period is for 8 years and not for six years. Meaning Aircraft will continue to be liability till April 2023 and June 2023.

Today, after a gap of eight months, PIA Boeing 777-300ER registration AP-BMS resumed performing commercial flights when it departed from Karachi at 7:57 AM as flight PK9731 to Jeddah.

PIA Boeing 777-300ER registration AP-BMS was inactive since May 2021.

So the summary is that out of the Fleet of 29 Aircraft [which includes 6 ATR's], only 20 Aircraft are operational. Effectively, 2/3rd are flying and 1/3rd are on ground.

Very bad situation.

I don't under stand why AP-BID continue to be on ground despite she was the last NEW B-777 delivered to the PIA In the march 2008, The youngest Aircraft but flew less, what an irony.

PIA should very least fix two B-777 and one A320 out of the grounded fleet so that total 23 Aircraft or approx 3/4 aircraft becomes airborne.

For AP-BGL, if the news of grenade went off was true, strict action needs to be taken against the one who did that and the officer under whom command the training was happening and this incident took place.

PIA should see if they can fix AB-BGL as a cargo Aircraft, if it is viable, as cargo Aircraft requires least restrictive certifications for airworthiness.

BHW is in worse condition! PIA management says that they are in deep preservation, this looks like mummification to me.

Notice the patch work under L1 door on BGL, could it be the repair work from Whatever incident occurred in it?

In the interview with the CEO I understood him to say that Boeing parts supply has resumed/or is about to resume (someone correct me if I’m wrong). It stopping was reason some of these aircraft were grounded and cannibalised so we may see them return to service over time

That is correct but this isn’t how you keep machines that carry hundreds of people, how hard is it to maintain a paint layer that protects the primer underneath.

This picture speaks volumes about the attitude in PIA
Base maintenance.

Today, after a gap of more than eight months, PIA Airbus A320 aircraft registration AP-BLA resumed performing commercial flights for the airline when it departed from Karachi at 12:43 AM as flight PK225 to Muscat.

A320 Fleet looks fine for now, but 4 B-777 parked owing to maintenance is bleeding PIA money. Very least PIA needs to Airborne two of them.

Currently 4 B-777 are grounded due to various reasons.
