PIA has purchased four Airbus A320 and two Boeing 777 aircraft after expiry of their lease term. These six aircraft were serving PIA as dry leased aircraft. Outstanding amount for these aircraft has been paid by the airline.
The two dry leased Boeing 777 purchased by PIA apparently are aircraft registrations AP-BMG and AP-BMH.

Re: PIA Purchases Four Dry Leased Airbus A320 and Two Dry Leased Boeing 777 Aircraft
Apparently PIA has invited bids for the lease of eight CFM International CFM56 engines for four dry leased Airbus A320 aircraft purchased by the airline.
Tender notice in January 2, 2022, newspaper:
In September 2021, PIA invited bids for valuation of six Airbus A320 aircraft without engines.

Re: PIA Purchases Four Dry Leased Airbus A320 and Two Dry Leased Boeing 777 Aircraft
What a bad idea.
Buying 2005 vintage 777s with really bad club class.
Might be better if PIA now operates these two 777s in all econmy layout for the Saudi routes.
Why buy 17 year old 777-200ERs when you could probably get decent new planes at discounted prices.
PIA needs new and modern planes for UK where it will compete with Virgin and BA who are now operating direct flights.
PIA will now make the mistake of operating 400 seat 777-300ERs on the UK routes thinking passengers will fly them.
Will PIA make money flying these planes at 50% capacity?????????/

Re: PIA Purchases Four Dry Leased Airbus A320 and Two Dry Leased Boeing 777 Aircraft
From what I understood from the Sam Chui interview, PIA plans to induct a new fleet of Long Haul aircrafts in the coming years.
It seems to me the purchase of the 77-200ERs is not part of that long term plan, it might just be a "deal they could not refuse" kind of deal, a kind of stop gap until they can fully realize their fleet plans in the next few years...

PIA goal is to have an older to oldest fleet..leased fleet..and continuously shrink and shrink unless the airline disappears.

Probably four out of these six A320s purchased by PIA. All these six were acquired on dry lease from Icelandic Aircraft Management (IAM).
