From November 27, Quetta Airport Runway 13L/31R being upgraded will not be available for flight operations. Parallel Runway 13R/31L will be available for flight operations at the airport.
Due to upgration work on main runway (13L/31R), parallel runway (13R/31L) is being offered for flights operations & because of unavailability of ILS approach at Airport, Frequent flight cancellations are being observed for the last one week.
Currently two airliners are operating for Quetta which are PIA & SereneAir. Wherease Airblue, AirArabia, AirSial, Flydubai suspended their operations exactly when runway (13R/31L) offered to commerical airlines with IFR approach.
Due to visual approach in light weather conditions such as heavy clouds, light rain & low visibility flights are being cancelled from the origin. They even don't make any attempt to approach/decent for Quetta which definitely results in additional risks & also can increase pilot workload.
In last two days all departures & arrivals has been cancelled & concerned airlines are fail to offer any alternate flights to the passengers. Majority of passengers cancelled their tickets & travelled by roads to their destinations.
The situation will remain same until the work completion on main runway (13L/31R)
