In December 2 newspaper:

PIA invites bids to acquire up to eight narrow-body aircraft on dry lease for six years.

Number of Aircraft: Up to eight
Seating Configuration: 170 plus (all-economy with soft divider after two rows)
Delivery Schedule: January to December 2021
Vintage: 2012 onward
Lease Period: Six years or corresponding to first 12 yearly check

Bids submitted will be opened on January 11, 2021.

Looks like the older A320s are going home and being replaced.

Might have been a good time to induct the A320-neo, but then with fuel prices at $40 a barrel might be better to get the older model A320-214s and save money on lease payments.

Which company will lease planes to PIA when they are not in a positon to make payments for exisiting leased fleet.

I know not how PIA's procurement works, but A320 NEO's have obtained higher marks compared to most A320 CEO's. Lets hope they get newer planes rather than old ones.

49 Aircraft offered! Leasing companies are very desperate. Guess the Malaysia fiasco has not put them off leasing to PIA.

^ Because leasing companies have to pay back to OEM as well .

PIA should steer clear from B-737 MAX. A320 NEO are the best options.

Below 8 Aircraft are the best option.

The Avianca A320-251N (neo) have 12/141 layout. 12 seats in club class and 141 in economy.

I wonder if PIA will retain the 12 seats or not?

The A321-251N have 12/183 seat layout.

Will PIA convert them to all economy?

A Mix of both the A321-NEO and A320-NEO can be a good option since using the A321 PIA can resume lower demand East Asian routes like Bangkok and maybe some Chinese destinations while the a320Ns can compliment the current a320s in domestic and middle eastern routes, this makes me wonder what would the IFE look like in these planes if they were to be inducted?

I think it is safe to say, given the current state of PIA IFE, that there would be no IFE on whatever aircraft PIA decides to induct. Even if the IFE was working, there is no real need for it on domestic routes, is there?
