At this point of time due to Co-Vid PIA should execute this decision with caution. It would be better for PIA if she opt out from re-delivery of some of these or all of these Aircraft.

With tons of planes grounded around the world PIA should have gotten these 14 year old planes at a very good price.

From sources inside PIA,as part of restructuring of PIA,the airline has allegedly decided to return these 6 A320s and then lease several A330s and B737-800NGs(with help of the government ofcourse), getting 330s makes sense but 737-800 makes little sense, could it be to fill the medium haul void left by the A310s?

737 and A330 don’t make sense together.
In my opinion if money isn’t an issue, PIA should go A320neo,A321XLR and A350s for its jet fleet. As for regional routes ATR42-600 and A220-100s

With A320 and A330 having same type rating it would be foolish to induct the 737-800

Best to go for A320/A321/A330 combo.

A good option would be to return the three leased 777s (BMG BMH BMS) and get brand new A330-900.

With Virgin and BA operating on the UK routes, PIA really needs to upgrade its equipment if it plans to bring passengers back to PIA.

three LEASED A330-900 would be perfect to re-launch the UK routes replacing 777s on the route. With other direct options on the UK flights I feel PIA needs a smaller aircraft for the London and Manchester flights.

Especially since now the 251 ton variant of the A330-900neo has a range of 7200 nm, it can also be used on routes to YYZ.

Money is the real issue here I think, with many airlines gone bankrupt an excess of cheap 330s which are less than 8-10 years old are available and also 737s, I think the reason PIA probably wants to buy these 737s would be the price and maybe to operate them on low load routes like bangkok,Istanbul etc. But still buying 737s would only make sense if they buy the 900 or 900ER, as they can operate the low demand but farther routes like Tokyo and even some European routes. This seems a temporary fix for a few years as eventually PIA will have to buy newer aircraft like the 320neo family.

Tbh, there’s no need to go for A330s, 737s or planes like A220 or maybe A350. Everyone knows PIA isn’t going to hire new crew for these planes and training current pilots and crew on newer types would be an extra cost alongside getting these planes. The most plausible option is to stick to A320neo family to avoid extra costs.

Let’s wait and see hope sanity prevails in this case otherwise PIA is known for making hasty decisions in regards of fleet induction

Although there are several factors in selecting an aircraft, I believe PIA can look into Irkut MC 21-300 as a replacement of A320 CEO.

It is state of art aircraft with western technology and a much better cabin compared to A320 Neo or B737 Max. And much lower list price

But again it is entirely debatable and several factors that come into play

PIA has invited bids for prequalification of maintenance, repair, & overhaul (MRO) organizations for redelivery checks (C1, C2 or higher checks) of leased Airbus A320-200 aircraft.

The required services will include base checks including all lesser checks with incorporation of some applicable ADs issued by European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), Federal Aviation Administration & the aviation authority of the state of design for Airbus A320-200.

Info source: PIA

Pre-qualification period will be for three years indicating airline's plan to return a number of leased A320s in three years.
