Former Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Airbus A310-300 (aircraft registration AP-BEQ) photographed on July 14, 2020, at Leipzig Halle Airport - Germany, where it had arrived on December 5, 2016.
PIA used its A310-300 fleet for around 21-23 years.
First one withdrawn in 2012 and last one in 2016.
If you look at some of the other airlines like Mahan Air and Air Transat they managed to pull a good 26-28 years out of their A310 fleet.
PIA had lot of trouble maintaining its fleet specially keeping up with engine maintainance causing a lot of aircraft to get grounded, and PIA using engines of grounded aircraft on other planes.
BEQ was grounded in 2016 when it was 23 years old, while Mahan Air operated its 1993 built A310s till 2020.
Is Iranian maintainance facilities better then PIA??

I traveled on AP-BEQ on Tokyo-Beijing-Islamabad-Karachi flight.
The plane was brandnew being delivered a couple of weeks ago and had engineers on board to keep checking all the systems.
The flight landed in Beijing where it was delayed for a few hours due to a snow storm leaving Beijing with a delay of a few hours.
The stopover in Islamabad was skipped and the flight carried on to Karachi there was some runway work going on in Islamabad and the delay meant that the PIA flight missed the landing deadline.
Eventually got a PIA flight from Karachi to Lahore.
