Maybe PIA UK staff to be retained to serve passengers travelling on aircraft chartered by PIA for flights between UK and Pakistan.

Shut down PIA. Return all the leased planes. Fire everyone. No golden handshake, just kick them out.

Restart a new airline with eight planes that PIA does not lease and see what happens.
You're right but it's a bit insensitive to say kick everyone out just like that, it would be criminally unfair to those who are keeping PIA afloat those hardworking Pilots, engineers, technicians and so on,who work honestly and with passion you know they exist eventhough in a minority but they are always undermined by soo called "jugaarus" who have contacts and get all the flights and good intra-department positions.Even if you close down the airline these are the same people who will get stay orders and get the courts to help them,we all know how the dubious pilots are dodging allegations by hiding behind stay orders.

“We’ve decided that filing an appeal at this stage will be counter-productive,” PIA spokesman Abdullah Khan told Reuters.

The deadline to appeal expired on Aug 31.

Two civil aviation officials told Reuters that all the stakeholders agreed that an appeal would be a futile exercise until reforms in the regulatory framework and a full probe into the pilots’ scandal were completed.

The civil aviation officials declined to be named.

Haven't heard much about the alleged 267 something pilots being deemed fake by the minister, how many have been fired or dismissed only saw a minute number to be suspended and many have been removed from the list.Firing pilots is a temporary solution who will make CAAs procedures fool proof? Even the 5 CAA officials named have been reimbursed who will hold the DG CAAs accountable who let these activities go on.

better PIA's all A320 back return to Lessor
Better PIA get new Boeing 737-800
Better PIA banned flight to Europe except Norway (not member of EU)
Better PIA flight direct to MAN, LHR, BHX only UK flights.
Better CAA banned all European airlines to Pakistan UNLESS EASA lift ban PIA flight
Congratulation to BA and VS flight to ISB & LHE well done.
I am HAPPY with BREXIT ha ha ha good bye to EU 31st Dec 2020.

EU ban costs PIA Rs280m

The National Assembly (NA) on Wednesday was informed that the flight operation ban on Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) in the European sector had cost the national carrier Rs280 million.

The airline, however, managed to make a profit of Rs520 million on flights for the UK.

PIA’s revenue on European sectors reached Rs1.41 billion against the expenses of Rs1.69 billion, while the losses were incurred during the months of July and August.

“The UK sector generated Rs5.81 billion in revenues against the expenses of Rs5.31 billion,” he wrote, adding that services of a Maltese company had been acquired for flights between Pakistan and the UK.

PIA to submit its final reply to EASA on October 15.

An interim response already has been given by the Pakistani airline to the European aviation safety agency.

PIA Europe Flights to Remain Suspended Till the Issuance of Professional Licenses in Pakistan is Investigated in Full and Satisfactorily Resolved

Image

On November 16, 2020, PIA provided European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) with a comprehensive set of documents as evidence to support the implementation of the agreed Corrective Action Plan (CAP) for the remaining open Level-I finding related to identified issues in PIA Safety Management System (SMS).

EASA in its reply dated December 2, 2020, informed PIA that the agency reviewed material submitted by the airline and found it satisfactory and sufficient as a first important step towards the closure of the above-mentioned finding.

Image

Considering the recent suspension for safety concerns, EASA informed PIA about airline's Third Country Operator (TCO) authorization and next steps:
  • EASA shall conduct an audit of the Third Country Operator (TCO) when considering the lifting of a suspension when the conditions are met.
  • EASA shall perform an audit when the outcome of the assessments indicates that there is a possibility that the audit will have a positive result.
At this moment, EASA considers that the conditions are not met. In particular, the investigation conducted by the European Commission on the issuance of professional licenses in Pakistan is still on-going which indicates that there is a possibility that the audit will not have positive results.

Additionally, the current situation regarding the COVID-19 pandemic significantly restricts the ability to travel of EASA personnel.

EASA has proposed to PIA to contact for next update of the situation as soon as concerns regarding the issuance of professional licenses in Pakistan is investigated in full and satisfactorily resolved.

Issuing of pilot licences falls within the remit of CAA Pakistan. Therefore this means not only can the ban on PIA be lifted until EASA are satisfied in this area, but no other Pakistani airline will be able to commence operations to Europe either unless they use foreign cockpit crew.

UK's transition period ends at the end of 31 Dec so can make their own decision and choose not to follow EASA but there is no good viable reason for them to do this.

Very worrying for aviation in Pakistan given how profitable a market the UK and other EU destinations are or have the potential to be.

Europe Ban on Airlines from Pakistan to Continue

Image

In an email, European Commission informed DG CAA that "concerns persists about Pakistan CAA safety deficiencies, not only on the pilot licensing areas but on the whole licensing and authorization processes, application and oversight of Safety Management Systems (SMS), and the establishment of the occurrence reporting system, amongst others".

"The European Commission and Air Safety Committee (ASC) have noted willingness and readiness of Pakistan CAA to react to the case of the fraudulent licenses, and also appreciated its transparency and openness in recognizing deficiencies".

"In view of this, it has been decided not to make any changes to the list of air carriers subject to an operating ban with respect to air carriers certified in Pakistan."

Very bad situation for PIA and for aviation in Pakistan. Those who bought aviation in Pakistan, including CAA officials should be punished and removed from services.

Also, any body know where the loose cannon Aviation minister read as slacker is hiding after his remarks on pilot licenses?

Maybe a loop hole could have been wet leasing planes for Europe and UK

Currently using Maltese planes for charter flights, what if PIA was to wet lease those planes and get permission from EASA to fly these planes with Pk flight numbers and use them in regular flights.
