EASA Suspends PIA Europe Flights

European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has suspended PIA Europe flight operations permission for six months starting from July 1.

Passengers with bookings can get refund or change booking dates, according to PIA spokesperson.

PIA is in touch with EASA and taking steps to remove apprehensions of the European aviation safety agency.

PIA also hopeful of getting issue resolved through steps to be taken by the government and airline's management.

What a horrible news. Pretty sure after this any dreams of reviving PIA is shattered.

Obviously some other aviation agencies will follow with similar directives.

It is not that only. It is also about safety management, risk management culture and audits that have been conducted in past, which led to this. Of course minister's statement just brought the slow moving issue back to life and eventually, this decision.

I think PIA can’t even appeal now since they would ask for assurances and government has almost no plans yet, Also even if the ban is lifted Pakistanis are still banned from entering the EU until the threat of COVID is over,EU didn’t include Pakistan in the entry list of 11 countries that even had India in in it which has more cases than Pakistan.

* PIA could not demonstrate having effectively implemented all elements of a Safety Management Systems.

* EASA also concerned about the validity of Pakistani pilot licences and Pakistan, as the state of operator, is currently not capable to certify and oversee its operators and aircraft in accordance with applicable international standards.

IF EASA banned PIA fly to UK then how how how will PIA cabin crew & cockpit crew fly back to Pakistan home? can they fly back today from Birmingham or Manchester? UNTIL EASA lift ban PIA flight to UK? Perhaps maybe alternate PIA fly overfly Middle East and North Africa to UK avoid EU airspace?

PIA crew stranded in UK/Europe I think can travel on other airlines' flights like for example Qatar Airways from UK to Doha and from Doha on a PIA repatriation flight to Pakistan.
