Thanks piacanada for sharing this interesting news report. PIA will also start non-stop flights for New York with Boeing 777-240LR aircraft in January 2006, according to this news report.

The JFK bit contradicts the new given by umer744 about it being with a 772ER.

Could someone please in brief tell us the main points of the article such as :

1. Intended # of flights per week to GLA
2. The route structure and aircraft being used
3. The route for the nonstop JFK flight etc

Lastly, PIA office in YYZ too says that they hope to launch nonstop flights to YYZ without MAN stop enroute from Dec as well + increase flights to 3 weekly frequencies with KHI-LHE-YYZ being the receiver of the new flight.

JFK-Pakstan will probably on the 777LRs and not 772ER I hope they withdraw the 74Ms now. Nice to see GLA on the PIA network, they probably will fly 2 week on the 310 to start with.

the article says that after the induction of 777 aircrafts, they will start JFK nonstop- that points to 777-240LR.

Well firstly I'm pretty sure that they will use the A310 on that route and the routing will most probably be from ISB and/or LHE.

Alternatively, they could originate the flight from KHI and go via ISB/LHE and onto GLA and vv as well.

I don't think they will operate the ER's on nonstop flights to the US and Canada and will leave those ot the LR's. With the 2 a/c coming in, they could add a third flight to YYZ being nonstop and one more to JFK nonstop. What Umar probably meant was the ER's could now operate nonstop, not will. Its an option.

A few years ago, they were planning a GLA-LYP direct flight using an A310, as there's a large Faisalabadi population in Glasgow. Could that be an option ??

I guess LHE/ISB would make better sense because it appeals to a larger market.
