PIA Boeing 777 Cabin Upgrade Program

Today, PIA Board of Directors meeting held in Karachi approved the installation of new Business and Economy class seats in airline's five Boeing 777 aircraft at a cost of four billion rupees.

Zodiac Aerospace (zodiacaerospace.com) is the successful bidder for installation of new Economy Class seats in five PIA Boeing 777 aircraft.

According to DAWN News channel:

Five PIA Boeing 777 airliners will be equipped with new Business and Economy Class seats with new In-flight Entertainment (IFE) system.

Flat-bed seats will be installed in Business Class of Boeing 777.

The number of Business Class seats will reduce to 24 from 35 with the installation of new seats in Boeing 777 aircraft.

The number of Economy Class seats will increase to 316 with the installation of new seats in Boeing 777 aircraft.

The new seats in Business Class and Economy Class will be equipped with new IFE system manufactured by Panasonic.

The new Business Class seats will have Panasonic eX3 (panasonic.aero) IFE system.

The new Economy Class seats will have Panasonic eXLite (panasonic.aero) IFE system.

More than 100 channels will be available in new Panasonic IFE system on new seats.

The new light weight Business and Economy Class seats will reduce Boeing 777 fuel consumption.

The installation of new Business and Economy Class seats with new Panasonic IFE in five Boeing 777 aircraft will be completed in one year.

These changes are pretty much required. Two things are good, i.e. Business class seats new reduce to realistic 24 seats. And EY class bumped to 316 seats. Both steps are correct.

so it will be 1-2-1 in biz? From the look of the seats it seems PIA will retain it 3-3-3 config in eco. They should configure atleast a 2 of their 777s with 10 abreast seats to operate high density routes.

Fifty-five million dollars will be invested to upgrade PIA Boeing 777 aircraft passengers cabins, according to Adviser to the Prime Minister on Aviation Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan Abbasi.

PIA will take bank loans to upgrade Boeing 777 aircraft cabins.
