Hybrid Aviation Cessna Crashes in Lahore

Post by saadm80 »

Once again a Sad News, Hybird Aviation "Cessna" crashes in the Front yard of a House in Model Town in Lahore. News Channels are Reporting 2 Pilots, or i would say Student Pilots from Karachi have lost their Lives in this Tragic Incident.

May their Soul rest in Peace, Ameen.

CAA Would be on the Scene in few Hours and would Start the Investigation, Now what could be the Cause of the Crash, Media is Reporting Technical Problem, but in my experience Both Pilots would be Atleast PPL and have certain amount of Experience on the Particular Aircraft.

Once again our friends over at Geo have let their imagination loose. Their on-site reporter is reporting that a small two seater Fokker has crashed.
Sadly however they are confirming that both the pilots are no more. According to the reporter the Instructor was a female pilot Anita and the student named Waqar.
May their souls rest in peace

According to latest reports, the aircraft had taken off from Walton Aerodrome around 1:32PM and lost contact with air traffic control around 2:20PM after a flight duration of nearly 50 minutes.

The aircraft was on a routine training flight.

According to eye witnesses, aircraft was flying low, then its engine stopped working and it dived and crashed into driveway/lawn of a house number 143 in H block of Model Town.

The two pilots who were in their twenties died instantly when the aircraft hit the ground.

No loss of life on ground reported.

Cessna 150D (AP-BCS) at Walton Aerodrome, Lahore, on April 13, 2002.

The aircraft at the time of its accident today was wearing livery seen in following photo available on official website of Hybrid Aviation (www.hybridaviation.com).

Here's basic information about AP-BCS on on official website of Hybrid Aviation.
Hybrid's Cessna 150 (AP-BCS) has been recently refurbished by Hybrid Aviation engineers and added into the fleet. The Cessna 150 isn't very fast or big, but it's not expensive to fly and it's fun. Much of flying is about fun and the C150 gives the most value for money for any student pilot. It is a wonderful training aircraft and many students learn a lot from its flying. That is the reason why Hybrid uses it solely for training purposes at Hybrid Flying School.

I think combination of good care, proper maintenance and pilot skills give such tough old Cessna airframes long life in different parts of the world.

Satellite image showing distance between Walton Aerodrome and Block H of Model Town where Hybrid Aviation Cessna 150D (AP-BCS) crashed into lawn of a house.

The aircraft was flying within designated circuit, according to an official from Walton Aerodrome. Aircraft on such training flights usually fly at a height of 1000 feet to 1700 feet, he said.

The two pilots died instantly when the aircraft hit the ground and their bodies were removed from mangled wreckage by Rescue 1122 team using metal cutting tools.

This does not make sense at all, What does Special Branch have to do in all this... This is a Purely Aviation Accident and the Regulatory Body CAA has the Mandate to Investigate all the Maintenance Records of the Cessna 150D, Pilots Record.

Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) investigation team also has reached Lahore from Karachi. The team visited crash site and inspected aircraft wreckage.

Btw, from video footage shown by various local news channels, it appears the aircraft did not catch fire after hitting ground, I hope it does not mean the aircraft ran out of fuel or suffered fuel starvation?

Here's DAWN News channel report.
