Boeing 737-800 in Garuda Retro Livery

Garuda Indonesia has painted its new Boeing 737-8U3(WL) registration PK-GFM in retro livery sported by Garuda aircraft 50 years ago in 1960s.

Some trivia about the airline name: Garuda is a large mythical bird or bird-like creature that appears in both Hindu and Buddhist mythology.

As far as pronounciation is concerned, even though the mythical creature is pronounced "G'rood" (गरूड; گروُڈ), the airline is pronounced Garuda (गारूडा; گاروُڈا).

Garuda has applied retro colours to its second Boeing 737 - a Boeing 737-86N (registration PK-GFN). This Boeing 737 has been painted in livery that was sported by Garuda aircraft between 1969 and 1985.
