Cockpit window frame rebuilt took 3 weeks!.
I don't have Lockheed C130 drawings so all this work was done by downloaded close up specific pictures of this aircraft from A.net and J.net. I started from left side to center and then went to right side by removing and replacing one piece at a time. On original plans cockpit window size seems to be too large and spaced too much apart!.

Here i am presently working on joining wing to fuselage. This is very intense and critical step, i can't make any errors as it's one time shot since center wing section will be glued to the fuselage permanently.

So far i have replaced original LE former with newer aircraft grade 1/8" plywood, i also made 3 notches in it so ribs of the wing can slide into them and get glued there. I will be doing same with the TE spar former too. Wing has to be mounted on +5 degress positive incidence and it has to be totally flat on top from tip to tip.

I have measured to see is wing dry mounts square to the wing and it's in 1/16"'s range, which is notice less on this size of the model. Wing also sits flat at this time so all looks good for the marrying up process.

Model is on special fixture made for it, it holds the fuselage straight and level and in one place even when i do hand sanding on the model.

I'm having hard time getting natural wood fireplace going in the shop, so for now model is inside on the lower level of the house.

It's sad but that's how it seems so far. I just hope Boeing can get there act together and start flying "Dreamliners" soon.

Back to the topic.....

Outer Wings update:

Last night i made flaps and ailerons on both outer wings with hotwire at 15 volts.
To do this wings were cut at the OB flap line so templates could be nailed on both ends of wing panels. First flaps and ailerons cut lines were marked on both wings upper sides and then templates were made out of Formica material. Once templates were made and properly nailed on wing panels, Mike started to cut the flaps out first and then i followed him to do 2nd set. Ailerons were also cut and pockets were sanded to make them even for sheeting and glassing.

I will join flap sections to aileron sections one of these days with epoxy and add wooden reinforcement strips, then sheet wing panels them with 3/32" sheeting. Pockets will be sheeted with thin veneer and glassed.

These wings panels are made on large bead white foam, being large bead this foam type is very very light!. Hotwire was used to cut there parts.

Doesn't this material requires a bit more of care for handling ?
