. f.k doesnt no anything, even though her fathers profession is the one being discussed here . what have u said thats any different ??? contract his services to a charter airline with attractive remuneration,a300 fes had a par excellence flying acumen.
all the fes that converted regret that decision to date, manifesting it self in the fact that only 10 out of the 70 opted for the offer most of whom were single and without family commitments. after slogging 15 years on the fokker and 737s for once these pilots have started earning respectably where as fes who carried on remained much better off with nearly thrice as much the pay. and the fes sued pias ex dfo for countermanding a promotional framework he had signed him self and now it has been put back to effect hence their promotions are just a matter of time.

pia inducted the last batch in 1978 i guess but their flying was shelved by the hectoring of their seniors who prefered being in shortage instead of disbursing flying hours equitably with their newly recruited collegues. the imbalance traces back 27 years . and as for good airlines retiring planes after 20 , thats not true. the best of the best still have classic 747s as part of their fleet. AF,QANTAS,CX,THAI,MALAYSIAN,JAL.the list goes on. and by the way the ab4s by no stretch had reached their design life. mng wud not be using them on a rigorous schedule if they in anyway were below the strictest standards of flight safety.

The best of the best which still fly 742's got them all in the 80's and they're not early 70's vintage. To give an example AF has a 742F F-GCBL which was manufactured in 1990, so you cannot compare these a/c to what PIA has.

I though freighters can carry on for much longer than passenger versions, so they cant be compared, top airlines do not operate passenger versions of the 747-100/200 with the exception of JAL subsidiaries JAA and JALways.

if an aircraft takes to the skies it simply means that its safe and fit to fly in any configuration that only boils down to a matter of corporate preference.

lastly an aircrafts age is not a determinant of its state, rather the most effective yardsticks arethe hours and cycles that it has put on. there are a few 742s manufactured in the early eightys parked in deserts awaiting purchase with hours as low as 35000 making thema better bet then many OLDER 744s in current operation in terms of price and sturdiness.
fuel price has been overblown. it surely raises the cost of operation but does not attest a purchase of millions of dollars. it would be an aeon before the benefits of fuel saving would truly be realized with a long wait on the investment recovery. every thing needs to be put in perspective and balanced.
when pis retited the 742s they had logged 80000 hours slightly more then the combis which still fly like work horses. if at all it made this decision proper replacements should have been sought since laeasing hajj planes is more expensive then the net worth of these aircraft sold and yet of the same type.
