i've just heard..from a reliable source that PIA has placed an order for the lease of 4 Airbus330's due in two months time..an RP has alos been sent to out to a few pilots and PALPA..the only problem is PALPA does not know where to send the pilots onto the A330's from..considering the fact that a large number of co pilots are to be given command onto the ATR's from the A310's and the pilots on the 777's have barely completed 3 years...and fokker f/o's are due to leave it for for the 737's...
wow..A330's in PIA colours..this i've got to see..initially they'll be on wetlease but the deal is renegotiable to install our own pilots...

Wow! Very interesting news! Is PIA acquiring them for Hajj flights or is it going to be a long term lease?

i doubt if its only for hajj..b/c PIA doesnt normally ask its own pilots to undego training for planes it leases during the hajj season...its mostly foreign pilots who fly..i hope they get the A330's! Plus..this year the A310's are also going to be part of the hajj operation along with the 747's...

The only A330s PIA tendered for were short term Hajj leases for Sep-Jan period, it inculded either type 200/300.

Will these replace the A300B4s that have left, though its not the ideal replacement for the A300. Still A330 in PIA fleet is excellent news....

Very interesting, I agree with Charliedelta11, I think these will not only be used for Hajj. They may be looking for a quick replacement for the A300 going to MNG, BTW have MNG taken delivery of the A300s yet????

that tender was just for hajj..what we are looking at here is possible replacements for the B4's and maybe the A310's as well since PIA does not have any medium range medto high capacity jet liners , something that would fall in between the A310 and the 777.....and the first ATR is coming in in March , the next one in November , in between PIA will be leasing 4 ATR's with crew to allow our pilots to train on them ......
