AP-BCL gone from Lahore
PIA Boeing 747-217B (registration AP-BCL) was not present at Lahore Airport tonight. On October 28 it was seen with all PIA logos and Pakistan titles removed from its tail and fuselage. Last two letters of its registration 'CL' were also painted out from its nose gear doors.
Any info about its fate will be appreciated.

Hi F.K, all I know at the moment is that AP-BCL was sold to Orange Air in November 2005.F.K wrote:hi abbas....can u tell me if both bcl and ayw are being flown or have they been dismantled for parts...info wud be highly appreciated
AP-AYW was sold to Evergreen International of United States and it left Lahore in September 2005 with US registration N559EV. The last known destination for this Boeing 747 was Marana Airport in the US.
I have seen some photos of Evergreen 747s meeting sad end like this one at Marana Airport:

(Sale of AP-AYW to Evergreen was discussed earlier in this topic in September: viewtopic.php?t=3358)

good to see this bird still in the air, i guess pias engineering just dint wanna go that extra mile in maintaining it and would rather have the airline throw out millions of dollars on leasing the same type just for three months.
whts become of ayw, i hope it hasnt been broken up cus it was a better machine then bcl and should ve been inducted by this airline instead.

Interesting info on BCL picked up from Pprune.
This aircraft takes the prize for being the world's greatest "bucket of bolts." Ex-PIA, it has such corrosion issues, no first-world authority or MRO would consider releasing it but it flies today as a testament to third-world licensing & repair facilities. She recently visited Al Salaam in RUH for an A-Check & to paint the logos & the "orange" on the tail. They did a double-take at what they found when they started scratching at the surface. When they took the rudder off to balance it after the paint, the corrosion they found was significant. Rumour has it that she was pushed out & departed without any paper-work formalities (or the A-Check) signed out.
