'10 Saudi flights with relief goods reaching Islamabad daily'

ISLAMABAD (October 15 2005): The number of Saudi Arabian flights carrying relief goods for the earthquake victims has increased to 10 per day. Saudi Arabian Ambassador Ali S. Awadh Asseri stated this here on Friday.

He thanked the leadership and the Government of Pakistan for having allowed increased number of flights from Saudi Arabia despite immense congestion at the Islamabad Airport because of the arrival of relief goods from various countries. He also said, subject to availability of space at the airport, the number of flights could be increased.-PR

Saudi Arabia gives $133 million to Pakistan

RIYADH: Oil-rich Saudi Arabia on Saturday announced an emergency aid package worth $133 million for infrastructure projects in Pakistan after the devastating earthquake.

"King Abdullah gave orders for a grant worth 500 million riyals (133 million dollars) to rebuild basic infrastructure installations, including schools, buildings, roads and hospitals in the brotherly Islamic Republic of Pakistan," said a statement from the royal court.

"The finance minister has put the state Saudi Development Fund in charge of carrying out the emergency package, in coordination with the concerned parties in Pakistan," reported the state Saudi Press Agency.
