LHE-Lahore has been a vv profitable route for TG since the very beginning. It has an avg load factor of 85% in Y class year round and 70% in J class on the 4 weekly AB6s/A333s BKK-LHE-BKK.
From ISB, TG will also mint money as PIA is its only competitor but the latter fly ISB-HKG-BKK-ISB twice a week on A 310s, therefore to fly to BKK nonstop in 4.30 hrs its better to fly TG than PIA who would take 9.30 hrs via HKG !!!
From ISB to BKK, there will be a big O&D market consisting of politicians, dvd-vcd traders, businessmen and tourists + big time interline traffic who will fly TG to BKK and then airlines such as SQ-BR-CI-JAL-ANA-CZ-QF etc to their final destination.
When TG increases ISB to 3 weekly flights, PIA will be severly hit!!! TG enjoys a monopoly on the LHE-BKK-LHE route and has succeeded in getting rid of PIA from this route.
This week the Pakistani Prime Minister is visiting Malaysia and will be amending the PAK-MALAYSIA aviation bilateral which would allow MAS to fly to LHE 3 times a week nonstop from KUL as well as extend those flights to the Middle East if need be with 5th freedom rights.
MH originally in 2003 wanted 3 weekly KUL-LHE-AUH-LHE-KUL with A 333s. The reason for MH expansion is because KUL Govt has allowed a further 150,000 Pakistanis from this year to seek work in Malaysia...so in time the O&D PAK-KUL-PAK stands to grow big time and will benefit PIA and MH in the long term.

PIA will continue to operate the Islamabad-Bangkok flight via Hong Kong, even after Thai starts its non-stop service from November.
What is wrong with PIA marketing??
Do they like to lose passengers to other airlines???
Why not switch the:
Islamabad-Hong Kong-Bangkok-Islamabad to:
Islamabad-Bangkok-Hong Kong-Bangkok-Islamabad
This way they might manage to salvage some passengers who prefer 26 year old 747-200s to newer A300-600Rs.
And while we are on the topic, how come PIA has no Lahore-Bangkok flights compared to 5 operated by Thai???
