Only NON stop solution is viable. -- Other wise there is no point to start any route to USA.

PIA needs to Induct very least two mid age -777 with 3-4-3 configuration to start making money on this route if any.

Actually New York was never a cash making route for PIA, not now not in the 1980s not in the 1990s never.

The tickets were cheap, same price as London and the flight was twice as long.

Maybe code share with THY out of Istanbul might be a good idea, or with British Airways out of London.

Do London twice a day and connect to British Airways vast North American network. Forget direct flights.

Nobody wants two or three flights a week anymore

PIA needs to phase out the last three 777 they took on lease and replace them with the 787-9 in three class layout, CLUB, PREMIUM ECONOMY, and ECONOMY. 28/21/229 seats in 3 class layout and start the 787 flights to London. The fuel consumption of the 787 is much lower then the 777.

PIA has dug itself into a hole, they kept shutting down routes (mainly because the fleet was too old and was being scrapped without getting replaced) and now they do not have the network to expand flights and feed the 15000 employees. On top of that 24 billion rupees a year in interest payments.

Routes closed in the last 10-15 years. Houston, Chicago, Washington DC New York, Bradford, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Rome, Athens, Istanbul, Amman, Baghdad, Tehran, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Jakarta, Manila, Nairobi, Cairo, Tripoli, Colombo, Tashkent, Kathmandu, Male these are 25 cities that I remember. Almost half the network. How do you expect to pay salaries to 15000 people from 32 planes and half the network gone. PIA fleet is at 1980 level when PIA had 12 wide bodies and around 12 narrow bodies. At that time our economy was $32 billion dollars GDP and now we are over 300 billion, why has PIA sunk to this level??

Good luck CEO sahib kutch nahi honay wala soon you will be out of a job.

No need to code-share with BA. Their frequency to LHR & MAN is already fine. They need to operate daily to YYZ (Toronto) and then code-share with Air Canada into the USA.

So all USA traffic will be routed through YYZ and then its 14hrs non-stop from there. They would disembark and go through visa formalities at YYZ, thus arriving in USA as Domestic passenger. Someone in PIA needs to talk to AC and make use of code-share services.

Couldn't agree more. AC would love an opportunity for traffic going to and from Pakistan, and if there ever is a joint venture for PIA viable, it has to be through Air Canada!

Canada is a huge market for PIA, I wonder if there will be any seats left for the US market even if PIA flies daily into Toronto.

A twice daily 777 in London could allow around 100 passengers a flight for the US flights.

Plus the huge BA network into the US would really benefit PIA offering daily and flights to like 15 cities.

Canada is a good idea also but still PIA needs to massively upgrade its in flight product for any flights to get good loads.
