PIA Invites Bids for development of indigenous In-flight Entertainment (IFE) solution for Boeing 777 Aircraft

On November 19, CEO PIA Air Marshal (retired) Arshad Malik said that no planning or up-gradation was made in the past for in-flight entertainment (IFE) and passengers' comfort on board the aircraft. He said that a system is being planned to be upgraded for the convenience of passengers on long haul flights.

On November 26, National Assembly's Standing Committee on Government Assurances discussed awarding of seven hundred million rupees PIA Boeing 777 aircraft IFE upgrade project to an inexperienced company that was established few months before awarding of the contract.

On August 25, discussing the procurement of services for the development of indigenous In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) solutions for PIA Boeing 777 aircraft, the Senate Standing Committee on Aviation was informed that in view of certain discrepancies with respect to technical soundness of the lowest bidder - M/S Avionic Solutions -, the whole tendering process had been rolled back.
