Airbus A320 Damaged at Islamabad Airport

Post by Abbas Ali »

According to news sources, an Airbus A320 is damaged after colliding with a wall at Islamabad Airport today.

The aircraft belongs to a privately-owned airline. Probably AirBlue or Shaheen Air?

Sometimes foreign airlines are also called privately-owned airlines by Pakistani news channels.

The A320 was sitting on a parking bay number 5 when it began moving due to strong wind and collided with a wall, according to latest reports.

The aircraft collided with wall of Royal Airport Services office.

Due to strong wind/storm, departure of a number of flights from Islamabad Airport has been delayed. Some Islamabad-bound flights have been diverted to Lahore.

The A320 was due to operate flight to Dubai tonight, according to a news channel. Now there's possibility of cancellation of that flight.

Probably Shaheen Air flight NL-221 from Islamabad to Dubai scheduled to depart at 11:40 PM tonight?

Probably it's Shaheen Air Airbus A320-232 registration AP-BLJ that arrived in Islamabad from Jeddah as flight NL-720 today.

^ Thank you Raihan for sharing photos link.

Photo on following link confirms the aircraft as Shaheen Air Airbus A320-232 registration AP-BLJ.

Seems the aircraft first collided with ground equipment and then with office/compound wall of Royal Airport Services.

The damage looks minor/small and the A320 should be able to return to service soon.

There is no need for kala bakra, sadqa, or calling peer sahibs for kaley elm ke kat. A little education, a brief lecture on " What a jet blast can do" and giving out leaflet showing a picture of airline catering truck getting flipped and tumbling several yards away behind the jet engine to all the men and handlers who were present on the day they were testing 737 , and a Youtube video clip of a 747 parked facing into the wind without chocks and tiedown.

Safety is not part of our everyday life. Look at the way we drive......need more be said!
Is it easy to teach people to behave one way when driving close to airplanes then to disregard these rules when driving to/ from work?

If Shaheen Air was conducting this engine run test in the designated and approved area , and all the ground safety precautions were taken by Shaheen, then legally Shaheen should take CAA to the court ( without costing them a bankruptcy looking for justice in Pakistan :) ) and CAA should pay the repair bill for damage caused to their airplane by poor cheap work at ramp edges by builders and CAA.
