EK offers LHE-GLA only 3 x weekly on Mo Tu and Fr and returning only once weekly (on Fr.) There are other days when you could, in theory, connect from GLA to LHE but you would have to wait 20hrs + in DXB, so I don't think that really counts...

Flight on wednesday returns to fsd. pk777 lhe-gla, pk778 gla-fsd
So there will be no FSD-GLA flights but there will be GLA-FSD? :? How do people do a return flight on this route then?

Have you heard of OPEN JAW tickets. LHE is only 90 mins away from LYP. They can return via LHE.

that seems like quite a weird way to start a route in my opinion. Open Jaw seems a lot like needless hassle.

CAA never made an attempt to change the LYP code, when they should have. After all, they went ahead and got ISB code issued to them for RWP.

Amaad Lone wrote:When will PIA get over the cuture of operating two weekly flights into a destination.

That is inefficient use of the crew also.

A minimum of three weekly flights should be operating to any destination.

How will it compete with airlines offering daily service to the same destinaiton? Emirates via Dubai.

I think that is the true down fall of PIA, not keeping up with the trends of the international traveler.
If there's not enough people travelling on a certain airline it means that 3 flights a week will not work.
the third flight will probably be mostly empty, which will only mean loss in profit.
PIA is facing so much competition from airliners in the gulf.

The reason why emirates and others are serving daily flights is because more passengers preffer those airlines and also because Gulf airports serve as a huge transit zone between south asia, the far east and Europe.
Pakistan's airports aren't really used much as transit zone in comparison to Gulf Airports especially Dubai.

Glasgow Set For Flights To Pakistan

31 March 2008

Flights from Glasgow Airport to destinations in Pakistan are set to be resumed by one carrier this week.

Pakistan International Airlines will start up weekly services to Lahore and Faisalabad on April 2nd, with flights to Lahore taking place on Sundays and those to Faisalabad running on Wednesdays.

The airline suspended flights from the Scottish city last summer for technical reasons after beginning service in November 2005.

Gordon Dewar, managing director of Glasgow Airport, remarked that long-haul flights from Glasgow traditionally travel to destinations in North America.

"However, with the emergence of flights to the Gulf, north Africa and Pakistan, we are now seeing a shift in travel patterns, with eastbound long-haul flights increasingly growing in popularity," he commented.

In terms of tourist attractions, Lahore is home to the world's biggest historical mosque and numerous tombs and forts, while Faisalabad is the third biggest city in Pakistan and hosts a number of colonial-era structures, most notably the Faisalabad Clock Tower.
