Remarks:
On May 30, 2009, PIA ATR 42-500 (AP-BHO) was
operating PIA flight PK-688 from Multan to Lahore. During landing at Lahore
Airport around 7:40 PM, the aircraft skidded off the runway and came to rest on
unpaved surface. All 43 passengers and 4 crew members aboard the aircraft
remained safe. The aircraft landing gear, nose section, landing gear doors and
fuselage skin near landing gear sustained damaged in this accident and the
aircraft was put out of service. After arrival of spare parts, the aircraft's
repair work was completed in October 2009 at Lahore Airport. Later the aircraft
was flown to Karachi. The aircraft returned to active service after getting
repaired areas painted at PIA Engineering facility at Karachi Airport.

Remarks:
On August 31, 2012, PIA ATR 42-500 (AP-BHJ) was
operating PIA flight PK-653 from Islamabad to Lahore. The twin-engine turboprop
airliner was given clearance to land on Runway 36R of Lahore Airport. Around
3:10 PM, the aircraft made undershot landing. It touched down on runway overrun
area, struck part of runway's aircraft arresting barrier system and came to rest
on grassy area on the right side of Runway 36R. All 42 passengers and 4 crew
members aboard the aircraft remained safe. The aircraft's starboard side main
landing gear and engine number 2 suffered substantial damage in this accident.
Weather was wet and rainy at the time of landing. The accident blocked Runway
18L/36R for over 28 hours. The aircraft was removed from accident site around
7:20 PM on September 1. Aircraft damaged beyond repair and withdrawn from use.
