PAF Mirage Crashes Near Super Highway - Karachi

According to news sources, a Mirage aircraft of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has crashed near super highway, Gadap, Karachi.

The Mirage had departed from PAF Base Masroor, Karachi.

The Mirage crashed 25 nautical miles north of PAF Base Masroor.

The aircraft was on a routine training mission.

Seems it was a two-seater Mirage because two persons are injured, according to news sources.

The aircraft wreckage has caught fire.

The aircraft was flown by Squadron Leader Tanveer.

Total number of aircraft occupants still unclear.

According to Dunya News channel, two pilots are injured so it means it was a two-seater Mirage.

Squadron Leader Tanveer is safe, according to police.

The aircraft crashed in Kirthar Mountains range, according to SAMAA news channel.

The Mirage crashed in a jungle, according to Express News channel.

A PAF helicopter has located and arrived at aircraft crash/wreckage site most likely to secure crash site for wreckage inspection.

Apparently, after ejection from the aircraft, the two pilots landed some distance away from aircraft crash site.

Unfortunately, Squadron Leader Tanveer Ahmed lost his life in this accident, according to latest reports.

The Mirage was on a routine operational night training mission. It experienced some technical problem and crashed in Gadap some 35 kilometers away from Karachi. The crash did not cause any loss of life or property on the ground.

Air Head Quarters (AHQ) has ordered aircraft crash investigation.

Probably it was a single-seater Mirage because name of only one pilot Squadron Leader Tanveer Ahmed mentioned in PAF press release.

A Mirage aircraft crashed near Masrur Base in April 1986 due technical and the pilot ejected and lived. Coincidentally the pilot carried the same name.

Seems pilot for some reason was unable to eject from the aircraft in this Mirage accident because, according to a local newspaper, human body parts were recovered from crash site.

Squadron Leader Tanveer Ahmed was buried with full military honours in Dangrot village near Kotli, Azad Kashmir, on November 22.

Tanveer was born on January 1, 1985. He joined PAF in 2003 and graduated from PAF Academy Risalpur in 2006.

He has left behind a widow and a two-year old daughter.
