AP-BGQ and AP-BGS were newer then BDZ and BEC, so why phase out newer aircraft and retaining older airframes??

According to news sources, three Boeing 737-300s (AP-BCD, AP-BCF & AP-BFT) and one Boeing 747-300 (AP-BGG) have been purchased by a same bidder for 2.5 crore (25 million) rupees. After payment of 25 percent of the bidding price, aircraft will be handed over to the buyer.

Bids submitted for three Airbus A310-300s (AP-BEB, AP-BGQ & AP-BGS) did not meet minimum target set by PIA. Most likely a new bidding invitation will be issued for those three A310s.

Nine parties including a privately-owned Pakistani airline took part in the bidding process.

The privately-owned airline probably showed interest in buying B737s.

Does that mean 1 additional aircraft back into operational fleet, or another A310 was grounded to bring this one back?

It's sad when management has no concrete plan or timeline to bring PIA to full 100% operational fleet, meaning ALL planes are fit and flying and the airline is able to operate without delays or cancellations.

The tussles between these old men for money/corruption and doing whatever they want is going to be the downfall of this nation and its institutions (unfortunately)

Not yet. In my last visit, about all grounded 747s, B737s and A310s were just parked, many of them were without engines, registration and PIA marks etc.

Retired PIA Boeing 747-367 registration AP-BGG parked at Karachi Airport shown in PTV News report.

Interestingly AP-BGG has retained PIA markings on fuselage and tail.

An official informed PTV News that fuselage of a retired PIA aircraft will be handed over to a law enforcement agency for training that agency's commandos.

Probably, a retired Airbus A310-300 of PIA will be handed over at Karachi Airport to Airports Security Force (ASF) for anti-hijacking training.

According to a local newspaper report, PIA Board of Directors (BoD) meeting at the end of this month is expected to approve October 2014 auction process of PIA aircraft.

So, I think it means process of scrapping PIA Boeing 747-300 (AP-BGG) and Boeing 737-300s (AP-BCD, AP-BCF & AP-BFT) at Karachi Airport will start after PIA BoD approval.
