I am afraid that's not true. In U.S, Median salary for Captain/Pilot in Command (Large Jet) is $121712. Which comes to around $10143 Per Month. Source: http://www1.salary.com/
Co-Pilots or First officers make way less than that. Maybe 3 to 4 thousand US$ per month.

my friend captain fly USA airlines for the past 27 years start from 1987 when 18 years old was low salary then today 2014 $25,000 before tax and pension and life insurance as he is jumbo jet 747 but other pilot about $10,000 to $25,000
Re: Salary of a pilot
It All depends upon the airline you are flying for and the aircraft you are flying.I wouldn't be surprised if a delta 777 capt is making 200000 plus annually. But then again it's verrryyy hard to got on to that position with a success rate if maybe below 25%
