PIA to Dry Lease Narrow-body and Turboprop Aircraft
Re: PIA to Dry Lease Narrow-body and Turboprop Aircraft
What would the be next step now? Is there any official or unofficial date on which these aircrafts are going to be ferried to Pakistan?

Thanks for useful input.GEnx wrote:Abbas bhai. Those 16 A320s you have mentioned, first six of them are powered by Cfm56-5B4. While the rest by Cfm56-5B6. That information may be wrong because as far as i know the -5B6 powers the A319 while -5B4 powers A320. Also, -5B6 has lower thrust than -5B4.
Powerplant information for those aircraft is from http://www.planespotters.net/ and it could be wrong.

I'm specifically asking about the ATR-72's if anyone has an update related to the aircrafts.Sahil Ali wrote:What would the be next step now? Is there any official or unofficial date on which these aircrafts are going to be ferried to Pakistan?

First, PIA will sign letter of intent(LOI) with the leasing company, then they will announce dates for deliveries. According to the tender for turboprops, deliveries should be not later than march 2015.Sahil Ali wrote:What would the be next step now? My cousin is a PK ATR Pilot....he hasn't mentioned anything as such (maybe he doesn't know anything about it) but I'll ask him when I see him in a few days....Charliedelta11 wrote:Any word on the any of the A320's/ATR's that were reported to have returned to lessors? OK-LEG, OK-MEH etc..

My dear brothers of History of PIA.
How does an airline get five brand new 777-300ERs from Boeing when it is not able to clear $100 million in fuel bills to P.S.O
You do not have to be a finance genius to figure this out.
PIA will be lucky to get ten year old 777s to replace its already grounded 747s.

Amaad Lone thank you for reminding everyone of that, but one more important factor to remind everyone is whats the point of gettign 777-300ERs when it cannot fill the ones it already has. More suited to PIAs lack of frequency would be smaller (cheaper) jets such as 787 or A330 of which a higher volume could be purchased (10 787s instead of 5 777) and used to double frequency ie make every flight a daily flight instead of 2/3 times a week. This will give passengers the flexibility they need.
Re: PIA to Dry Lease Narrow-body and Turboprop Aircraft
now that 2015 has come, it's time for us to know whether or not those new 5 B777 will be coming or not.
And seriously, start using other 777's rather than only the LR's on Toronto/New York routes, and perhaps increase frequency, and increase the punctuality of ALL flights (if they want to retain their customers, otherwise they will keep leaving for the ME carriers for international travel).
PIA management + Pilots need to take note of this, otherwise they may continue to experience financial difficulties.....
