Re: PIA DFO Resigns
Reading in the comment section down below in the article link, there seems to be many and one of them is a conflict between management and PALPA about the selection of pilots, who should be piloting these A 320s.
It is a right decision by management not to send senior A300/ A310 captians for A 320 command. In North American and in Europe pilots over age 45 are discourage to be placed in this technology cockpit , this practise is restricted by lot of A320 A330 and A 340 operators worldwide and many airlines do not do that. Disbanded 737s copilots has the right to go for A 320 training first.
A senior retired captian who was new to A320 cockpit technology and automation was one of many other reasons for the Air Blue crash in Islamabad few years ago.

Airplane is flown with brain not with stick and rudder.

That is incorrect.Squawk_1200 wrote: In North American and in Europe pilots over age 45 are discourage to be placed in this technology cockpit , this practise is restricted by lot of A320 A330 and A 340 operators worldwide and many airlines do not do that. Where do you think all those 40+ yrs of age captains/FOs flying the MD80s and Boeing 737-400s at AA and US airlines are going?
They're going into the training classes for the new A32x fleets.

There's something called transition training in which pilots are trained for almost everything, any failure they have to cope. Wouldn't that suffice?Squawk_1200 wrote:Reading in the comment section down below in the article link, there seems to be many and one of them is a conflict between management and PALPA about the selection of pilots, who should be piloting these A 320s.

Retirement age is when pilots are discouraged from flying, and that's the suitable time for a pilot to bid farewell to aviation since their bodies can no longer perform up to the mark. So why put another barrier?

Squawk 1200, what's the big issue in flying a A320.
It's not as if they'll show you an airplane and say 'go fly it'. There is a proper type rating course / training for flying any type.
Mind you this airplane has been in the market for years, however like every thing else it's a big deal in PIA and Pakistan in general.
As far as the AB crash is concerned, it was more to do with loosing situational awareness than anything else.
You fly into a mountain with a Cessna 150 the consequences would be the same as the AB accident.
