According to statement of advisor to Prime Minister on aviation in a news report on following link:
Unneeded operations have to be called off, unnecessary stations closed and extra personnel have to be shown the door.â€ÂÂ
Following this policy, the PIA offline stations in Chicago, Sydney, Glasgow and Yanbu have been closed down, Azeem said. “The staff was deployed there, perks and privileges were enjoyed, heavy salaries were drawn but there were no flights at all. What could be worse than that?â€ÂÂ
He particularly mentioned of a PIA office in the London where some 69 personnel were appointed. “As many as 44 of them were hired from United Kingdom and 25 personnel had gone from here. More than 55,000 to 60,000 pounds were annually being incurred on every PIA staffer in London. There were two offices of which one was absolutely unnecessary. We closed it down and called back the additional staff.â€ÂÂ
An excellent decision =D> God knows why PIA had an office in Sydney. PIA will never fly there, since there are only 10000-12000 Pakistani's located or based in Sydney/New South Wales Area, about 30000 in total in Australia. Chicago office should have been closed down long time ago. PIA's policy of flying there for an year via Barcelona & Manchester/Birmingham in the past & then closing down & then resuming back is outrageous. Etihad Airways, Qatar Airways & Turkish Airlines have opened up flights to Chicago in the past few years & have successfully taken up PIA's load while PIA has been flying an irregular schedule to ORD. Don't know much about Yanbu, Saudi Arabia. However Glasgow is a controversial destination & in my opinion PIA should have maintained a Seasonal A310/B777 schedule to Glasgow.
No wonder the airline is in such a dire mess. These offices should have been shut down long ago.
Well done to the person/persons who decided on this direct action. Maybe they will now go through the whole of PIA with a fine comb and clear out all the dead wood!

Oh my god this is unbelievable ! Clearly PIA heading in right direction by scalling down costs .
You CAN NOT be serious.....
They would have been better off hiring local British staff, that would have cost A LOT less and certainly would have provided a MUCH better service.
Amsterdam office is still there not being used for a year since PIA closed down the operations. And it is the middle of the city, I really wonder how much rent they pay for an closed office with 'NO' business at all.
SIN office closed? Good news. But Nothing will happen to any offline station office in reality all the siyasi chamchay will be posted and new positions will be added when needed. Happy democracy.
