^ Thank you for the info.
Under Pakistan's National Aviation Policy, Air Indus will need to add at least one more aircraft to meet the requirement of fleet of at least three aircraft for starting scheduled passenger flights initially on domestic routes for one year before starting international flights.

Now why couldn't PIA lease these two aircraft???????
Forget the A320s, just atleast try to survive and maintain some schedules.
A 15 year old 737-300 is better then no aircraft.

Re: Pair of Boeing 737-300 Aircraft Ferried to Karachi
Even after these two aircraft are leased out, six (1997 built) ex Air Nigeria 737-300s are stored.
These aircraft were orginally delivered to Easyjet in 1997.
Four of these are owned by leasing company GECAS.
The lease rates for these aircraft will be much lower then the A320-232s PIA wants, plus the fact that these planes can be inducted without much pilot re-training.
It could really provide PIA the cheap capacity they need.

Ammad I think its because unlike private airlines PIA cannot buy planes directly from the open market as they have to follow procurement rules. You remember the whole 737-800 frenzy from last year when Transparency International took PIA to court. Therefore, for PIA's sake it would be better if they can some how land those 320s at Karachi.

According to news report on following link, procedure of aircraft inspections/clearances by aviation authorities may take more than a month for formal induction of the two aircraft in Air Indus fleet.
